About me

Hand the first month to a professional — you just heal

I began in infant care and early childhood education — I was an assistant teacher at a Montessori children's house in Zhengzhou, caring for many children from newborn to three. I then moved into confinement and postpartum care, which I have now done for ten years, in Zhengzhou, Beijing and the United States. I trained formally in maternal and newborn care in Beijing and worked in a high-end confinement centre and in private homes.

Since coming to the United States I have kept studying. I am on Carrot's list of qualified caregivers, and I am currently completing my professional DONA International postpartum doula certification — the 27-hour approved workshop and the Lactation for Doulas course are both done. I am 49, and I still work on my English every day, because I want to understand what each mother is actually telling me.

The way I work is concrete. I log every feed, sleep and nappy in an app so the whole family can see the day at a glance. Daytime means infant massage, passive exercises and tummy time, with singing and talking all the way through. At night I wake at the first sound. For you, I help with early breastfeeding and breast care, put together something simple to eat, and keep you company through the long feeding hours. I believe this work is done alongside parents, not over them — your habits and your choices are yours.

Your month with a doula

What the month actually looks like

Every line below is something a family I worked for wrote in their own review.

Before I arrive

Even if the baby comes early

For you
Once you've booked, you can ask me anything on WeChat. One mother wrote that in that first week I “guided us patiently over WeChat, answering everything and calming me down.”
For the baby
Feeding adjusted from the baby's diaper output. If my schedule allows I come early — two families' babies arrived three weeks ahead, and I moved my start date for both.
Week 1

First, you sleep

For you
The heat lamp, foot soaks, making you rest, and keeping an eye on your bleeding and recovery. Lighter food at first, until your appetite comes back.
For the baby
Nights are entirely mine. Bathing, nappies, settling, and daily checks on jaundice, the cord and the nappy area.
Weeks 2–3

The rhythm comes in

For you
Help with early breastfeeding, engorgement and blocked ducts; company through the long feeding hours; and something simple to eat, so you eat on time.
For the baby
Tummy time, morning exercises and massage, with singing throughout; and helping the baby tell day from night. Feeds, sleep and diapers all logged in an app.
Week 4 onward

Handing it back to you

For you
I hand over the routine, the feeding and the habits properly, so you can carry it on yourself — which is the point of a doula in the first place.
For the baby
By now the baby is usually on a settled routine and sleeping longer stretches at night — which several families wrote in their reviews.

Let's talk and see if we fit

Welcoming a new baby is a beautiful experience, but it can also be overwhelming, and you don't have to figure everything out alone. Tell me your due date, your city, how many days you need and whether this is your first baby, and I'll come back with my availability and a quote. The first conversation is free, and I'd rather we had a video call first — it's easier for both of us to know whether it's a good fit once we've actually talked.
